ADHD/Psychological Testing
Not wanting to come into the office? Contact us to find out about out-of-office testing options.
ADHD Testing People consider ADHD testing for many reasons. Perhaps your provider has asked you to get more information about your or your child’s symptoms to determine next steps for treatment or maybe you are wanting more information about your or your child’s struggles at work/school, with friends or at home. Our ADHD screening can provide valuable information about the presence of ADHD while also allowing us to rule out other factors that sometimes contribute to difficulties with focus and attention.
Comprehensive Psychological Assessment: Comprehensive psychological assessment allows us to get a global picture of your functioning both internally (within your mind) and externally (your behavior).
Our Comprehensive Psychological Assessment includes neuropsychological testing to evaluate cognitive functioning. Assessment of cognitive functioning includes evaluation of memory – short and long term, ability to use old/stored information to solve new problems, learning abilities, and other factors related to the workings of your brain.
Personality assessment is often also included in a comprehensive psychological assessment. Personality testing is used to learn more about a person’s emotions, preferences, experiences with other people, and behaviors.
Finally, a comprehensive psychological evaluation might include measures specific to certain diagnoses, for example, Posttraumatic Stress Disorder, Obsessive Compulsive Disorder, or ADHD.
Following a comprehensive psychological assessment, your provider will have a very good idea of how you are functioning and will be able to make recommendations based on your unique capabilities, preferences and limitations.
What to Expect During an Evaluation:
We will begin with an initial consultation. This can take place in our office, face-to-face or over the phone. During this consultation, we will discuss your questions and concerns and determine an appropriate course of action based on your unique needs.
Following the initial consultation, you will meet with your provider for a clinical interview – during this appointment, your provider will gather information about your history, current symptoms, and gather other information that is important when interpreting data and making decisions about diagnoses and intervention.
Following the clinical interview, your provider will work with you to create a plan for your assessment. This might include administration of tests in our offices or online assessments.
If you are scheduled for tests in our offices, these might take place all in one day or across multiple days. Your assessment schedule will be tailored to best fit your schedule and individual needs.
After testing is complete, your provider will write a report detailing the findings, any identified diagnoses and suggestions for intervention. You will meet one more time with your provider to review the results of your assessment. We are also happy to forward your report to your other providers if you give us permission to do so.
